Hong Kong is located in south China, east of the pearl river estuary and along the coast of the south China sea. It is one of the most prosperous international metropolises in the world. The total land area under the jurisdiction is 1104.32 square kilometers and the population density ranks the third in the world.

Before 1840, Hong Kong was a small fishing village. Hong Kong was a British colony from 1842 to 1997. After world war ii, Hong Kong's economy and society developed rapidly, where eastern and western cultures converged and became one of the "four Asian tigers". On July the 1th, 1997, China formally resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Hong Kong and became one of China's special administrative regions.

Hong Kong is allowed to retain its economic model, legal and social systems, and enjoys a high degree of autonomy in all matters other than foreign affairs and national defence. Hong Kong is an important international and asia-pacific shipping hub and one of the most competitive cities in the world, ranking first in the index of economic freedom for 21 consecutive years.

Hong Kong is known as "pearl of the Orient", "paradise of food" and "shopping paradise". Recently, things in Hong Kong made a great deal of noise. But Hong Kong is China's Hong Kong, this is no doubt!
