About calcium hypochlorite
There are two kinds of commercial calcium hypochlorite: anhydrous calcium hypochlorite and hydrated calcium hypochlorite, and the content of water content and available chlorine in different processes of calcium hypochlorite is also different.
GB/T 10666-2008 calcium hypochlorite product standard will divide its for excellent product, first class product and qualified product 3 kinds.
In addition, in order to regulate the available chlorine content, some commercial calcium hypochlorite will be added to a certain amount of other chemicals to form a mixture.
Calcium hypochlorite is a typical oxidizing solid with active chemical properties. Its disinfection or bleaching is also based on its strong oxidizing properties. Its main chemical reactivity and stability are summarized as follows:
1. Chemical reactivity
Calcium hypochlorite is soluble in water, and will undergo slow exothermic decomposition reaction when it meets water and humid air, releasing chlorine gas (Cl2, a kind of irritating, toxic and corrosive gas).
Reacts violently with acids, releasing large amounts of heat and chlorine;
2. Chemical stability
As a strong oxidant calcium hypochlorite in dry, sealed, stored in a clean container is stable;
If the production process is mixed with impurities or encounter metal powder (iron, cobalt, magnesium, etc.) will cause decomposition reaction;
It will break down violently on fire, releasing chlorine and oxygen, which will accelerate the combustion and potentially cause an explosion, as well as an explosion of the container when it is heated.
