A Reliable Assistant in Industrial Bleaching
In the workshops of textile mills and paper factories, there are always some white figures quietly playing their part, turning originally yellowed fabrics and rough pulp into a fresh, pure white. Those carefully weighed granules and proportionally prepared tablets are the key to making all this possible.
In the dyeing and finishing process of textile workshops, the gray fabric just out of the dyeing vat still has a faint undertone. Workers will sprinkle a certain amount of granules into the bleaching tank. As the stirrer rotates, these granules quickly dissolve in water, forming a uniform solution. The fabric slowly moves through the tank, with the original mottled colors stripped away bit by bit. When fished out again, it already shows a clean white. These granules are calcium hypochlorite, whose oxidizing power is just right—able to fade pigments without damaging the fibers, keeping cotton fabrics soft to the touch and linen fabrics crisp in texture.
In the pulping workshop of paper mills, the situation is somewhat different. Bleaching pulp requires a more long-lasting effect. Workers will put tablets into a dedicated dissolving tank, allowing them to dissolve slowly, and then introduce the solution into the pulp tank. The pulp soaks in such a solution for several hours, during which the lignin inside is gradually decomposed, the original yellowish-brown fades, and the natural whiteness of the pulp is revealed. This slow-release method ensures more uniform bleaching, avoiding local over-bleaching that would make the pulp brittle, thus guaranteeing the strength of the paper.

When dealing with the bleaching of some special materials, such as heavy canvas, granules and tablets are used in combination. First, granules are sprinkled to quickly remove the deep pigments on the surface, and then tablets are added to maintain the concentration of the solution, allowing the bleaching effect to penetrate deep into the fibers. After such treatment, the originally gray canvas becomes clean and crisp. Whether made into tents or waterproof cloth, it can maintain a long-lasting whiteness.
These granular and tablet forms of calcium hypochlorite each have their own roles in industrial bleaching. Granules dissolve quickly, suitable for scenarios requiring rapid effect; tablets release stably, meeting the needs of long-term bleaching. They are not ostentatious, but with their tangible effects, they make various materials show their best state after the bleaching process, becoming an indispensable and reliable assistant in industrial production.
